Started in 2017, Lunar Outpost develops dual-use technologies that will enable a sustained human presence in space, while being able to serve a purpose here on Earth as well. One of the technologies tailored for Earth applications is the Canary air quality and environmental monitoring system, which is a compact, cost-effective device that can be deployed in a network to provide continuous monitoring of pollutants of interest. As Co -Founder and COO of Lunar Outpost, Julian Cyrus is involved in both the business and technological aspects of the company, including managing the Canary program. His experience includes work on DoD, NASA, commercial, and local government programs, as well as Lunar Outpost’s Mobile Autonomous Prospecting Platform (MAPP), which will be sent to the Moon to seek out key resources and carry high value payloads. Previous to Lunar Outpost, he worked for Lockheed Martin, building the Displays and Controls subsystem in the Orion capsule, NASA’s next manned spacecraft. He holds degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas and the University of Colorado.
