Matthew Prater

Matthew Prater

STEM/Chemistry Teacher, Gilbert Public Schools

Matt Prater currently teaches chemistry and Capstone research classes at Highland High School in Gilbert, AZ. Before this, he made radioactive PET (Positron Emission Tomography) drugs at Cardinal Health for 13 years, working in quality, manufacturing and R&D positions. As all the drugs he made were radioactive, he had to use synthesis systems to carry out the chemistry. This is where Matt got hooked on software.

Matt is married with two children, the oldest of which graduated from high school last year. Matt likes watching hockey (especially his son who plays for GCU) and riding his trike (three wheeled bicycle). He is in his 2nd year of the MS Software Engineering program at Regis University (grad. Date: Dec 2018). For the last two Summers, Matt has worked on embedded systems like the Particle Photon for Dr. Fengbo Ren at the Engineering school at ASU.
